Naval Gazing
Come visit the home of Canada's Pacific Fleet, Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Esquimalt. Free tours enlighten and amaze visitors with tales of this first military presence in the colony of Vancouver Island and the scope of today's forces and ships of the Pacific Fleet. The Base employs 4,200 military and 2,000 civilians and is comprised of 1,500 buildings on 4,170 hectares (10,300 acres). This is truly awe-inspiring complex is also home to a unique Naval and Military Museum (open to the public) and the oldest working drydock on the west coast of the Americas.
